Architecture inspired by my clients and the challenging sites on the coast of Maine since 1970.

The process of working with a creative architect in the design of your home may be one of the most rewarding experiences you will have in life.

A house oriented toward the

sun takes a unique form on a

rocky ledge.

This house, designed for a very small site

in Round Pond on a rck ledge over-

looking the ocean, has a unique form

influenced by architect James Walter

Schildroth's studies at the Frank Lloyd Wright

Foundation.  The design of Schildroth's work is

always arrived at by understanding the needs

of the client and the conditions of the site.  Here

the form of the lower level was a way to reduce

the vertical height and cost of the foundation

wall.  The plan is oriented to the view and the

movement of the sun.  Schildroth coined it the

Upside-Down Victorian.   MH+D
